Patsy Fuller and friends
Birmingham Jazz and Blues vocalist Patsy Fuller has been a favourite of the Midlands Jazz and Blues scene for a short while now. She first started out with her band Rhapsody in 2001. Since then, she has continued to perform her classy interpretations of jazz and blues standards with a wide a compliment of Birmingham's great musicians. The album entitled 'Rhapsody to Revelation' offers an exciting mix of jazz standards, blues and reggae, all flavoured with a gospel and spiritual feel. Patsy describes her album as being her 'Revelation' and symbolic of a journey of human experiences of despair and pain, overcome. With the earthiness of Nina Simone, influences of Ella and a hint of Dakota Staton, she delivers an experience of Jazz and Blues that is simply unforgettable and exhilarating and unimitatibly styled.

After a flurry of activity by many members of the congregation during the week we were able to have our first service in the refurbished sanctuary on Saturday 7th March. At 2:00pm Lisa and Colin took their marriage vows before family, friends and members of the congregation. A wonderful way to celebrate our new church entrance and interior. The next day was our first opportunity to hold our normal Sunday services and to see the outcome of many months of planning, prayer, discussion and work.
During renovations at the church workmen from Applewood Contracts Limited uncovered a pottery container containing papers from 1872. These related to the beginning of Baptist worship in Kings Heath that began in 1811. Later the same workmen uncovered another container, containing many more papers and a silver Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee medal all dated 1897.
If you have wandered up King's Heath High Street lately you may be wondering what is happening to the New Life Baptist Church. In spite of it looking like a building site Sunday services are still continuing in the hall to the rear of the Church. We will be pleased to see you there.
